haven't written or wrote on here in a long while, but have been inspired to do so by my valentina.
here's what's new:
-in tech rehearsals for As You Like It at CTC. it's an ambitious project...one of the more ambivalent of Shakespeare's comedies performed by a cast of high school students in a promenade production in the public spaces of Imaginon...with very little production support in the way of Budget or Manpower. There are things to like about it and things I loathe and things which will get better...hope I get to tackle this text again sometime.
-working on a new play: Mum's the Word. writing and directing. it goes up in a nifty little space in Plaza Midwood next month. it's a schizoanalytical attack on the subjects of Race, Class and Sexuality...but despite all that pretentiousness I do think it will be a funny, frightening and entertaining evening for our audiences.
-acting in Treasure Island at CTC. playing a country bumpkin, a fishwife and a pirate. rehearsal just began last week and I am very excited. I too rarely get to act anymore. It's a good cast and I have high hopes for the production. It opens the same week as Mum's the Word. yes the next month is going to give me a stroke.
-finishing another play ThomThom(if that bird won't sing) for production in May. this one is a pataphysical clownish musical. my company, machine theatre, previewed act one in september and will be premiering the piece in charlotte this May before touring the state's rocknroll clubs with it in July.
well...that's enough of a check in for now. I'm exhausted. visited my erstwhile companion C-Bo in DC this weekend and got very little sleep. It was so good to see her and the work she is doing with the kennedy center. very proud, very much in love, and now very sleepy.
perhaps I'll come back to this blog soon and fix all this anti-grammar.

well we're stuck out here in portland with little money, no food, and my ear infection medicine is dwindling.
there are scheduling problems all over the place, the in-laws are stressed and we're all craving intimacy.
there are four giant dogs living in this house, and two cats-one of whom screams...seriously holding notes for extended periods. it would be impressive if it were not so grating. brother runs to the airport at least once a day to drop off or pick up his wife, who is some sort of drug runner. I stay here with the dogs and watch youtube, plotting my next great victory.
let's all come to piece with the rowdy and roughhewn nature of this project. let's hope a week is enough rehearsal. please god let's hope.
